You can, but...: Enemas were previously routinely given when patients were admitted in labor at Labor and Delivery in the hospital. What was discovered is infection post partum rates were slightly higher because of the contamination of the perineum with bacteria that travelled into the uterus. so, it its better if you did NOT electively use a enema.
