Not to worry: Period changes are common with any hormonal contraceptive. Brown discharge is older blood. The consistency of the mucus can also change. As long as you feel healthy otherwise, it's OK to give it a few cycles until your period normalises.

Period blood color: The menstrual blood is dark and gooey if the bleeding is light and it comes out slowly. You are not bleeding like you used to because of the implant. When the amount of bleeding increases & the flow of faster it will be more red in color because there's not much time for the oxygen in the air to change the color. The color change is therefore normal.
