It is possible that removing the IUD will result in a miscarriage, but it is more likely to occur if the IUD is left in place - plus there is a risk of infection! See your GYN: While it's rare to get pregnant with an IUD inside, it's possible and you should talk to a GYN about what you want to do with the pregnancy first. If you want to have an abortion, then that should not be a problem, but if you want to keep the pregnancy, then your GYN may order some ultrasounds to better understand the risks to your pregnancy.
