Yes: Sleep deficiency can cause problems with blood sugars and even lead to diabetes. Obstructive Sleep Apnea is associated and can cause or lead to diabetes. So yes one of the problems that can be related to sleep deprivation is increase in sugar levels in the blood.

Actually, yes!: Sleep deficiency - as in sleep apnea, particularly - can cause an increase in your adrenal glands' secretion of cortisol. That's a stress hormone that allows you to respond to threats to your physical well being. Ironically, over time, this decreases your sensitivity to insulin. It can increase your risk for diabetes. Get some sleep, and have your sleep evaluated if you are very tired or snore.
