Table with Vitals: It is normal to feel apprehensive in these situations. You already did the right thing by going to ED. Children have different normal parameters than adults. Rest is important and assume Tylenol (acetaminophen) was also prescribed. Some like to alternate Tylenol (acetaminophen) with ibuprofen to treat symptoms / fever.

Expected features: When a kid has fever, the heart rate will go up by 10 bpm/degree F. The respiratory rate goes up by 5 bpm/degree F. The heart of a kid can easily sustain heart rates of 150-175 with no damage. You have done the basic need-get evaluated. Now focus on hydration enough to pee every 8 hrs, comfort & any sign a new issue has started. If the kid is alert enough to feed & play some it is likely stable.
