Unlikely problem: Birth marks can change over time, usually without concern. His medical provider should have seen them at his well visits which are frequent in the first two years and been able to notice any concerning change. If since that last visit and now there has been significant change in size, especially in short period of time, make a follow up visit to discuss and determine any need for further eval.

Mongolian spots?: Birthmarks do expand along with the skin as children grow. I would love to see a picture as these might be what we call "mongolian" spots which are pigment type birthmarks and not of concern.
