Mucinex (guaifenesin) time scale: Mucinex (guaifenesin) DM is an every 12 hour medication with a dosing of 1-2 tablets every 12 hours. If your husband took only one tablet each time reported he remains in the acceptable total amount for a 24 hour period. If he took 2 or more tablets each time he is outside the normal 24 hour dose. A one time misuse is unlikely to cause harm. Continued misuse could be harmful and certainly not advised.
