Viral: This is a viral upper respiratory tract infection which has travelled to the trachea or bronchial tubes. Since over a week has transpired and you have a heavy,productive cough it no longer is a simple viral infection but now it seems bacterial and deserving of a course of antibiotics. I recommend that your physician examine you for diagnosis and treatment advice. Take adequate fluids,cough syrup
