Evaluation: Typically pt needs to be evaluated by their doctor with a complete history and physical exam. Additionally it is important for pt to have evaluation forms (typically Vanderbilt forms) to assess diagnosis based on symptoms. For school age children you need assessment forms by teachers and parents also. There are specific symptom cut-offs that are more consistent with the diagnosis

Have an evaluation: If this is a concern, start with an evaluation with your doctor to determine if there are medical conditions interfering with your ability to focus and attend. If nothing is evident, see a neuropsychologist for testing. If you have ADHD, it is a treatable condition that can interfere with future education and work.
