Slower ...: and more efficient. I don't think I would choose the words weaker or stronger to describe bisoprolol's effect on heart rate. Bisoprolol is a beta blocker, a class of medicines for which we have a LOT of experience & which, overall, have proved very safe. Bisoprolol works to block cardiac nerve impulses. It slows the heart rate and makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood around the body
