Several ways: There are several causes of ascites in the setting of liver cancer and what is most likely can depend on which cancer. In the U.S. its usually portal hypertension from underlying liver disease like cirrhosis. Also common is cancer spread to the peritoneal lining. Finally, liver failure from extensive cancer spread and/or underlying cirrhosis is a cause - . Several other ways - too complex for 400 characters.
