Possible Pathology: It is very possible that you have a recurrent infection at the tip of the tooth. Have your dentist take a radiograph to see if this is the case. The tooth may require further treatment.

Infection/fracture: it is possible to have an infection or fracture in the old root canal treated tooth but is usually does manifest as pain and swelling. See your dentist for evaluation, x-rays and treatment options.
