Can an uneven bite in a root canal tooth still cause pain in that tooth even though the nerve is gone? if so, how and why? thanks

The nerve in the tooth is gone but there is living tissue with nerves that still connect the tooth to the jaw bone. If there is inflammation, infection or even just continued pressure from biting, it will cause pain. But see your dentist to determine exact cause, don't assume.
