A member asked:

Why does my 3-week-old baby always seem hungry after breastfeeding?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Confusing signals: Most people don't understand that a baby sucks for pleasure, not simply as a sign of hunger. The high concentration of pleasure sensors on the lips assures that baby will latch and learn to feed, after a pregnancy where they did not. Do not feel obligated to offer supplements or feed again just because they are sucking. If they are gaining well, they are getting enough.
