Tylenol (acetaminophen) PM: Contains a sedating antihistamine known as diphenhydramine (aka Benadryl) and the purpose is to help people fall asleep. So it's not unexpected that a sleep aid would cause people to be sleepy. On the other hand, in some people it can cause insomnia. Drugs do tend to have the desired effect in most, but not all people. If you want a drug that doesn't make you sleepy, use regular Tylenol (acetaminophen).
