Equally common but..: Staph is not necessarily more common in hospitals. It is one of the most common causes of bacterial infection, in or out of hospitals. But it can be more severe in hospitals because some patients are at inreased risk of serious complications. Also more likely to be antibiotic resistant. Finally, staph is easily passed between patients, sometimes unwittingly by doctors and nurses.
