Photophobia: ... is the medical term for light sensitivity. It can vary greatly in severity and have multiple causes. Lighter colored eyes are more sensitive to the light in general. Inflammation inside the eye that involves the iris causes pain when the pupil constricts. Surface scratches or irritation can cause pain when light hits the eye. Best to see an eye MD to determine the actual cause. Good Luck.
