Salivary disorders: You have 6 major and hundreds of minor salivary glands. They make saliva (spit), which is important for oral hygiene and digestion. Your 6 main glands are the paired parotid (in cheeks), submandibular (under the jaw) and lingual (in the floor of the mouth). A "disorder" would encompass many problems like infection, blockage (salivary stones), inflammation, tumors, etc.

Antibiotics: Generally, oral or IV antibiotics will work fine for it. However, if not improving, may need surgical drainage, particularly if you have a stone in the gland or duct.

A 29-year-old male asked:
What can be a reason for salivary gland?

Purpose or problem?: I am not sure of what your question is. The salivary glands produce an important digestive enzyme, called amylase, that helps to break down starches and liquefy the food in the chewing phase of digestion. The saliva also helps to keep the mouth moist and helps control the bacteria that produce cavities and plaque formation. Do you have a problem?
