1-3 days: The recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics are that a newborn should be seen within a few days (ie.,1-3)days from discharge. Conditions such as jaundice, which would have be seen in the past can be missed, now that healthy babies are sent home 48 hours after birth.

2-3 days after d/c: We generally recommend scheduling the first visit 2-3 days after hospital discharge as a general guideline. If your baby's newborn Doctor has any specific recommendation that differs from that, he/she will surely let you know.

1-3 days: I normally want to see newborn babies within a couple of days after hospital discharge. If there is going to be an issue with jaundice, weight loss or poor feeding, that is when you can catch it and take care of it.
