Can a urinary tract infection affect any other organs?

Yes or no.: When urinary tract infection is limited to the bladder ot kidneys, after treatment it gets back to normal function. However, if patient has multiple medical problems, if the patient develop urinary tract infection and has end stage renal failure, it can affect all other organs. Not usually: By definition, a urinary tract infection may involve the bladder, ureters and kidneys, but should not affect other organs. In extreme circumstances in which the infection is severe, it may spread to the bloodstream and have other effects. In this circumstance, the individual is extremely ill and hospitalized.

Yes: Urinary tract infection can affect urethra, bladder, ureters, kidneys, prostate gland, epididymis (which sits on top of testis) and testis. Severe kidney infections can spill bacteria into the blood stream and thus be transported anywhere in the body including brain.
