Many tests available: If 3+ months since exposure, any test is fine, including the home self test (Oraquick®). Sooner than that, a 4th generation or "duo" test (for both HIV antibody and antigen) is conclusive any time 4+ weeks after exposure. Antibody tests (3rd gen) are conclusive by 6-8 weeks. If very high risk, a DNA test at 7-10 days may be advised. See a doc or clinic for advice on best choice for your situation.
