Capsaicin: Greetings. The chemical active ingredient in pepper spray is Capsaicin. It's the spice that gives "hot pepper junkies" their endorphin rush. (Like me..... :)) keep it away from your eyes or mucus membranes.

Capsaicin: Pepper spray(capsaicin spray) is a lacrimator. It causes inflammation of mucous membranes of eyes, nose, throat & lungs & causes eyes to burn & close (often with temporary blindness), nasal congestion, coughing, pain and difficulty breathing.
