Separate functions: Binocular clues involve the use of stereopsis which is true depth perceptions dependent upon using both eyes together (and is what you use when you see a 3-D movie). Monocular clues depend upon the catalog of image types and sizes so you know how far things are by these clues. Those who have lost one eye, depend upon monocular cues for depth understanding.
