Haphephobia is a: morbid fear of being touched unrelated to Social Anxiety Disorder or OCD. It develops in early childhood, sometimes after trauma or molestation. It can manifest as crying, sweating, shaking or running away when faced with handshakes or hugs. It is treated by Exposure Therapy, as for all specific phobias.
