Yes: Being a recipient of a kidney is considered major surgery and will require an overnight stay as the following must be monitored: bleeding, infections, organ rejection, kidney function, and other surgical complications.

Yes: Absolutely. After a kidney transplant which is a major surgery patients usually stay in the hospital for a minimum of 3 to 4 days, both to recover from the surgery and to put them on the right dose and regimen of immunosuppressants (anti-rejection drugs).

Yes: Absolutely, the person receiving a kidney transplant must stay overnight to see how they respond after surgery and to see how they respond to the immunosuppressive medications. You should ex pect to stay atleast 3 to 5 days after the kidney transplant in the hospital.

2 or 3, maybe more: All kidney transplants are not the same. Depending on how fragile or sturdy the patient is, how much the kidney has been injured by the process of moving it from the donor to the recipient (such as temporarily stopping blood flow to it!), and how difficult the operation was, the length of hospital based recovery will be determined. If dialysis is still required, that too must be available at home.

Yes: The average length of stay for renal transplant recipient is 3-5 days. If the transplanted kidney is slow to function, the patient may be hospitalized longer.
