A member asked:

Do therapists have to report abuse to the police?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It depends: If it's clear that you are yourself putting someone in danger, the therapist has obligations under the law to protect that person. If you just want to tell about having been through something bad, years ago, the therapist won't make a police report, though he/she may discuss how you may act on your options.
