Yes: A dry socket can occur with the removal of any tooth, although in my practice, it is quite rare with removal of teeth in the upper jaw. Smoking, vigorous rinsing, spitting and drinking through a straw should be avoided immediately postop as these actions may increase the risk of dislodging the blood clot.
