Yes: Studies have shown negative effects on the area which contacts the seat. Generally with long term and long duration cycling, not your 1 hour workouts. There are split saddles which take the pressure off the area and riders seem to agree that it helps immensely. Many riders are very worried when the area gets sore then numb when out on long ride. Usually recovers soon after ride. Good Luck.
