Depends: As you age there is natural decline of the ability to focus upclose(presbyopia). This occurs around 40. People who are myopic are aided by their natural near focus point and are less symptomatic as they pass 40. It also depends on how myopic you are. Eg., if you are -1, you will be able to focus comfortably at 1 m but more accommodative effort closer. But a -3 will be very comfortable at 30 cm.
