A member asked:

Can you get hiv from fingering yourself? maybe you had blood or bloodily fluids in your fingernails and can you get hiv after washing your hands?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Whose blood?: Your own blood or fluid on your finger or another person's??? If it is your own there is no risk. If it is some other person's, then it is a concern. Is the other person infected? Washing off the blood or other materiel is very important but not 100% guarantee against infection. This is a strange question. Do you have contact with an hiv-positive person.?
