Course?: Classically, appendix pain starts as dull around the belly button pain which localizes to the right lower quadrant over a period of hours. So when you say " left" is it your left or her left? The key is that the pain progresses steadily over a period of 24 hours, with sometimes fever developing, and difficulty walking, inability to move.
