Jaw pain: it is important to see a dentist that treats TMJ for a proper evaluation and treatment. The dentist will evaluate your jaw for muscle and structural problems. Splint therapy is frequently part of the treatment.. Short term pain management that you can do include OTC pain medications, soft diet, and massage.

TMJ: Sounds like TMJ. See TMJ expert. Any dentist can be a TMJ expert with the proper training and experience. Most commonly, oral surgeons, prosthodontists, and orofacial pain specialists. Ask your MD, your dentist and your dental society for referrals.
