No: But it may cause colitis-like protracted symptoms that may associate malabsorption. Sometimes the original condition is misdiagnosed as gastroenteritis, but it is the onset of an inflammatory bowel disease: Crohn' s for example.

No.: Gastroenteritis is rarely associated with any of those. It does not cause them.
