A member asked:

I have itp - never needed treatment. i'm on prozac for anxiety. what can i take that is safe if i have a headache? tylenol (acetaminophen)? aleve?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Acetaminophen: Acetaminophen (Tylenol (acetaminophen) and many other over the counter meds) is safe because unlike Aleve (ibuprofen) it has no effect on platelet function. Aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) do affect platelet function, which increases risk of bleeding, which is already increased in ITP due a lower platelet count.
