Why colonoscopy?: Fissure may have been only cause of bleeding, but doc needs to make certain that was the only cause. Diverticula, Crohn's ds, polyps, cancer call all cause rectal bleeding. Colon cancer is not something to wait and see; once it's there, it's very hard to treat. Prevention is much better than needing treatment. SO, for completeness' sake he's recommending colonoscopy.
