DUB stands for: dysfunctional uterine bleeding. This is the term for bleeding that occurs more often than every 21 days or farther apart than 35 days. It's also used to describe long & heavy periods. It is common in teen years/early years of menstruation. It means there is no structural cause & may be due to expected hormone shifts & changes. Less likely when on oral contraceptives.
