About 50 oz in 24 h: fluid requirment depends on many factors, 2 major factors are temperature and physcial activiity level, At normal situatiation, for a 47lb chld he should have about 1500ml of liquid in 24 hour, which comes to 50 oz or 6 cups in 24hour, most of which should be water.

Simple solution: People get fluid value from fluids/vegetables(60%),fruits (80+%) and other intake.I push applesauce when they are ill because chilled it tastes like ice cream and they will take it. If you get enough in him that he pees every 6 hrs he is doing fine.Once every 8 hrs is marginal output while longer intervals mean he's drying out.
