A member asked:

If there is no "cure" for sibo, is it dangerous to not take abx? have history of c diff & try to avoid abx. have heard breath test isn't accurate?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

SIBO: Antibiotic therapy for this complex condition with multiple potentially contributory factors is problematic, but may yield some positive results. With history of C. difficile colitis there must be an assessment of risk/benefit ratio on the part of you and your treating doctor. There are probiotics (Saccharomyces) that may help to reduce risk, but there is no definitive yes or no answer. Good luck
