Spray, lozenge, exam: Throat and ear pain are often related - an infection (viral or bacterial) in either can irritate both. If you are running a fever over 101, or if the pain lasts for more than 5 days, becomes severe, or you cannot swallow, you should see your doctor or go to an urgent care. For now, start with pain relievers: tylenol, (acetaminophen) motrin, hot packs, throat lozenges and throat sprays such as chloroseptic.

Gargle with salt H2O: You need to call your doctor to get an appointment to be seen. In the meantime, you can rinse with warm salt water, gargle with it and that can help with the sore throat. You might put a heating pad over the sore ear side and you might get some relief there as well.
