Known side effect: For the sake of others reading this answer who may not know, Marvelon is an estrogen + progestin combination contraceptive .I do not know the exact mechanism by which this side effect occurs, but nausea and stomach cramps, bloating, and other non-specific abdominal complaints are known side effects that can happen in some people taking estrogen or progestin either separately or together.

Marvelon = contracep: Marvelon is a brand of Ethinyl Estradiol & Desogestrel which is marketed in UK (http://www.drugs.com/uk/pdf/leaflet/370826.pdf). Stomach issues are common side effects of hormonal birth control pills. Tell your GP about your concerns so that s/he can help you find one that doesn't cause you side effects. And remember that birth control pills don't prevent sexually transmitted infections. Condoms!
