I think my bf has thrush he has a thick white coating on tongue and when he tries to brush it off he has patches of red and a little bleeding?

Probably not: It would be unusual for a healthy young male to have lingual thrush. I suspect that the white coating is not a yeast infection and is not pathological. White patches are often seen on the throat surface with oral yeast infections. Have him examined by an otolaryngologist if concerns continue.
