Temporomandibular: joint disorder, or TMJ, is the most common problem associated with jaw pain. It is most commonly caused by the grinding of teeth during sleep or while stressed. Pain in the jaw area could be symptomatic of a serious condition like a heart attack or angina. Go to an urgent care center to make sure that it is not the latter if you can not get a hold of your doctor or cardiologist.
