A member asked:

Can your doctor say to you definitely you do not have sleep apnea but you went to a sleep study specialist he told you do have osa?

Sleep apnea: yes that is possible. The sleep study will be specific for it, so if it's showing sleep apnea, then i would go with that.

HMMMMM: OSA is a diagnosis which is obtained by taking a sleep study. The only way any physician can say you "definitely" do not have OSA is if the sleep study shows it so. Have the study repeated and see what the results are. #DrGlennMacFarlane #RedBankDentist

R/O OSA: OSA can be suggested by history and physical. Excess snoring/daytime sleepiness/apneic episodes/ aM headaches. And the Exam obesity/small oral airway/collar size>18. The definitive test is a PSG with split night study and CPAP titration. I would request copy of sleep study and get a second opinion if you are not satisfied with the options.
