I all of a sudden have a very sore left thumb- at the base it is like the bone is protruding and very sore?

Thumb pain: Could be a strain, sprain, tendinitis, arthritis, etc. Sometimes we hurt a finger but don't even think much of it until later when it hurts. Use ice and Advil (ibuprofen). No improvement or worsening see your doctor.
