A member asked:

I have graves disease. my anxiety is out of control. never felt this way. could my methimazole be causing it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Unlikely: Hyperthyroidism is commonly associated with anxiety symptoms. Methimazole will gradually bring down your thyroid level, but it takes weeks/months to work. If you are having more anxiety, it is likely that your thyroid level is still high.
