If...: If this the first time that you have experienced this change in your periods the first thing to do if you haven't done so is to get a pregnancy test. If negative or not a possibility it might be possible that you skipped ovulation and hence the abnormal bleeding as a result. Follow up with a gynecologist if this becomes repetitive and more severe and check for other potential causes.
