Not a hernia: Your discomfort is prob secondary to local trauma and irritation to muscles that attach on the lower ribs. This should gradually improve over the next few days. Intermittent ice for 24 hours, then alternate ice and moist heat for a couple of days--this may decrease the pain and recovery time.

Hernia ?: What you describe is probably not a hernia, but a pulled muscle. Pain under your lowest right rib can be due to gall stones also, so if the pain continues, see your healthcare provider for testing and advice.
