Depends on weight.: If you lose the weight you gain during a pregnancy, having had gestational diabetes, your risk of diabetes later in life goes back down to your baseline risk (based on family history and other factors). If you keep the extra weight you may have gained during your pregnancy, your subsequent risk of diabetes may be as high as 60%!
