Honestly...: EVERYTHING hurts when you are in labor! The good news is that when you are done, you have the most beautiful gift of all in your arms. If your OB is gentle, it is more like discomfort than pain. Good Luck to you.

It can be: uncomfortable but labor pains hurt worse. and you will not mind a vaginal exam to see if you are closer to delivering your bundle of joy. If you have an epidural both will be very tolerable.

Usually not: usually it does not actually depend on the person that is doing the examination a lots of specialized nurses and midwifes and OB physician are skillful and super gentle
