Excessive Guilt: Excessive guilt is one the criterion in the diagnosis of major depressive disorder. Since depression impairs all of the following: interpersonal relationships, ability to perform jobs, and ability to care for your basic needs, you become overly concerned that your are failing in your obligations to others. You being to worry what others think of your condition, causing feelings of guilt.

Too Little, Too Much: I have seen both extremes of this. Sometimes depression will lead to a general apathy about relationships with a disregard for others. However, some depressed people will be hypersensitive to what they think are the thoughts and feelings of others. Depression can cause distortions in the way messages are received from others, causing the depressed individual to react wrongly towards others.
